The 38th Annual Connecticut Flower & Garden Show – February 21-24, 2019

The 38th Annual Connecticut Flower & Garden Show will take place at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford starting Thursday, February 21 through Sunday the 24th.

The 4-day show kicks off on Thursday at 9:55 am sharp with a cutting of a garland made of fresh flowers, instead of a traditional ribbon, under a garden pergola. Following, guests will have a change to peruse nearly 3 acres of the largest flower shows in New England. This year’s theme is “The Charm of Spring” with countless creative, expert and practical ideas for homeowners and apartment dwellers, no matter how green your thumb is!

Hours for the Garden Show are:
Day 1: Thursday, February 21 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Day 2: Friday, February 22 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Day 3: Saturday, February 23 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Day 4: Sunday, February 24 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Visual Highlights include:

  • Over two dozen gardens in bloom by professional landscape designers and nonprofit organizations, including naturalistic, low maintenance, native, organic, and pollinator gardens:
  • Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut’s 2019 Standard Flower Show competition: over 12,000-square feet of a design, horticulture, botanical arts and photography competition with more than 500 entries from members of close to 100 garden clubs across the state – all with an “April in Paris” theme. Featured is a 16-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower, created by retired carpenter Joseph Kobylanski of Branford.
  • At show entrance, a large fanciful sculpture of illuminated oversized mushrooms, with various plants and florals, created by artist Shauna Shane of FentonRiver Studio in Storrs.
  • Over 300 booths of displays, activities & shopping: fresh flowers, plants, garden ornaments, metalwork
  • sculptures, artisans and handcrafted gifts, herbs, bulbs, seeds, fertilizers, soils, gardening books, patio furniture, and lawn and garden tools and equipment. Bring a 1/2 cup of soil to UConn Co-op booth for free soil testing.
  • More than 80 hours of education seminars and demonstrations by expert presenters
  • Entry is free to all sessions with event admission.Admission: $18 Adults; on Thursday/Friday only $16 Seniors Age 62 & Over; $5 Kids 5-12; Free under 5 including seminar schedule, exhibitors, and driving directions
