Orchid of the Week: Vandas
The Vanda species are native to tropical Asia. These heat-loving orchids are easily grown in warm climates, where plants are cultivated outside in light shade We’re starting to really like vandas. Unfortunately we don’t have any in our collection. Maybe it’s good that it can’t grow well in my area because we’d probably have too many like our other orchids.

Burrageara Leopoldo Ancheta is an orchid hybrid originated by J.W.McCully in 2012. It is a cross of Oip. Pacific Waters x Ons. Aloha Sparks. (Source: www.orchids.org). We added this orchid to our collection last Fall. The blooms are a burnt orange color with white tips.

The Dendrobium Nobile Angel Moon Love Letter is a beautiful orchid that has clusters of pink flowers. The average plant height is 18-20″. Each shoot on this dendrobium has multiple blooms. The fragrant blooms have a life expectancy of up to 1 month.
